Ethylene equipment is the core of the petrochemical industry. To ensure that ethylene plant units work stably and safely at full capacity for long term, it is necessary to keep their work parameters, including vibration, temperature and oil pressure, under integrated supervision.
The monitoring system consists of the field control stations, communication network and upper control stations. The parameters such as vibration, temperature of axle and axle shell as well as oil pressure are transferred from the field control stations to upper control stations via industrial Ethernet network for recording and analysis.
(2) Requirements of Network
The communication system can be divided into two parts, the network between ethylene plant units and the networks between ethylene plant units to ethylene plant control stations. The architecture of the communication system is a redundant double-ring network designed for high reliability. There is a dual star fabric network in the ethylene plant control stations, providing the communications for the control master, PLC and intelligent I/O devices.
(3) Implementation
Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3000 and SICOM3024 are employed in the network between ethylene plant control stations.
Industrial Ethernet switches such as KIEN3024M, KIEN3016M are employed in the network between the field control station, PLC and intelligent I/O devices inside the ethylene units.
