(1) System Structure

The glass furnace is the major heat equipment of the glass industry, and also a multivariable, multi-loop, high-order and time varying nonlinear system with many parameters correlated and coupled. Its main objects of control are the temperature of the work pond and melt kiln, air flow of combustion, natural gas flow rate, glass liquid level, pressure of kiln, channel temperature and timing switching of combustion system. The communication network of this distributed control system is an industrial Ethernet network with industrial Ethernet switches connecting to all test points.

(2) Requirements of Networks

The industrial optic redundant ring network is built up by industrial Ethernet switches on the control layer, and connects control unites like kiln hoods and tin tailings together. Due to environmental factors like dust, electromagnetic radiation and high temperature, the industrial Ethernet switches are required to be qualified for high temperature, dust and EMC.

(3) Implementation

Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3024, SICOM3000, KIEN2000 and KIEN6000 are employed in the redundant ring network of the communication system.
