In a larger scale Steel enterprise, there are many production steps, such as sintering, iron making, electric furnaces and converter steelmaking, steel rolling, power supply and oxygen generation. There are different control systems at different stages of the production process. By connecting all the control systems together via industrial Ethernet network, there are no longer isolated information islands.
(2) Requirements of Network
The backbone of the network is Gigabit Ethernet network and connects to workshops via fast Ethernet networks.
Due to environmental factors like wide temperature range, EMI and dust in different workshops, the industrial Ethernet switches are required to be qualified for wild temperature range, dust and EMC.
(3) Implementation
Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3024 and SICOM3048 are employed in the backbone of the system in this larger scale steel enterprise.

Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3000 and KIEN 3024 are employed in the process control systems of every workshop.
