1) System Structure

AFC (automatic fare collection) system is composed of a central computer system (CC), station computer system (SC), auto ticket vending machine (ATVM), manually operated auto ticket vending machine (S-ATVM), Entry/Exit gate (EnG/ExG), booking office machine (BOM), add value machine (AVM), ticket checking machine (TCM), PCA, ES, fiber optic Ethernet network, station LAN, etc.

AFC is an automaton system designed to help realized rail traffic ticket vending, check, fare, statistics, clearing and management and based on the technology of computer, communication, network, and auto-control etc.

2) Network Requirements

Layer3 industrial Ethernet switch is applied in backbone network to implement the data isolation and communication between stations, each segment is an independent dual-ring structure, and it is connected with central computer in Gigabit link to ensure reliable and smooth data.

The system in stations employs fast Ethernet switches, which are connected into dual-star or ring networks to ensure data security and reliability, meanwhile, the equipment must have good performance in temperature, humidity and EMC to match the harsh environment.

3) Product Application

SICOM6224/SICOM6424 Layer industrial Ethernet switches are connected to form backbone communication network of AFC system.
SICOM3024 Industrial Ethernet switches are connected into redundant ring networks for connection between stations and AFC terminals.
SICOM3000/SICOM3016 Industrial Ethernet switches are used in machine management system.
