The whole line of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, from Ge’ermu, Qinghai to Lhasa, Tibet, is located in a cold and harsh alpine region characterized by rolling thunder. The integrated monitoring system contains an environmental monitoring system, DCC data monitoring system, security, video, monitoring system and fire fighting system. It is composed of a field monitoring end, communication network and central control layer.
The industrial Ethernet switch in the communication network collects the information from the field monitoring control and transmits it to each PC room, which will send it to control by SDH. Based on the characteristics of the region, Lhasa is the monitoring center for the region south of the T'ang-ku-la Mountains and Ge’ermu for that north of the mountains.
