(1) System Structure

The production control system of petroleum/ natural gas is divided into field executive layer, field control layer (remote I/O or DCS), monitoring management and communication networks.

The communication network connects many function modules, such as oil (gas) processing, storage, sewage treatment, water injection and central control.

(2) Requirements of Network

It is easy to migrate, expand and maintain to an open standard based network. Industrial Ethernet network has many advantages, it is very easy to access and connect, it supports many protocols, e.g. MODBUS-TCP/IP, and it is qualified for high EMC, insulation internal protection over IP40 and a wide range of temperatures.

(3) Implementation

Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3000, SICOM3024 and SICOM4000 are employed in data collection points of oil wells.
