The Wind Power Control System.pdf(1) System Structure
The wind turbine control system performs field control functions of the wind turbine, including automatically starting/stopping, grid merging, speed conversion, automatically steering, data tests and processing, fault recording and automatic protection. In addition, in the central control room, it also performs other remote control functions upon wind turbines around the wind farms, such as real-time monitoring, data processing and statistics, fault alarming, measuring on speed-power curve, starting, stopping, leeway and parameters modification.
The control system consists of a filed control unit, central control unit and communication network. In terms of different types of wind turbines, the communication might be divided into two parts, with one being placed between wind turbines and or between turbines and the central control center, and another being the communication network inside the wind turbine.
(2) Requirements of Network
The wind turbine control system is a typical distributed system. It is required that it be a ring industrial Ethernet network built up by industrial Ethernet switches. The industrial Ethernet switches should be qualified on dust, extreme high and low temperature, strong EMI, to transfer parameters of wind turbine in a stable and transparent manner.
(3) Implementation
The industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3000, KIEN2032 and KIEN6000 are employed in the communication network between wind turbines or between wind turbines and the central control center. Industrial Ethernet switches such as KIEN1005 are employed in the communication network inside the wind turbine.
The industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM6000 are employed in the communication network of the central control room and isolate upper layer networks by layer 3 switching functions.
