The Protective Relay System of Digitalized Substation

The Protective Relay System of Digitalized Substation.pdf

(1) System Structure

The protective relay system of digitalized substation monitors protects major devices in the substation, such as lead-in wires, transformers and outlets. The communication protocol between devices in the substation is compliant with the IEC61850 specifications, and network devices are required to be the industrial Ethernet switch supported by real-time GOOSE datagram, to guarantee the reliability of communication and seamless connection within substations.

(2) Requirements of Network

1.Must comply with IEC61850-10 and IEC61850-8-1 specifications, the GOOSE datagram must be priorly transferred.
2.Zero packet loss is required.
3.EMC ability must be qualified under IEC61850-3 specifications.
4.The temperature and insulation abilities must be qualified under IEC61850-3 specifications.
5.Fiber network interface for high reliability.
6.The architecture of network is required to be dual-plant industrial Ethernet network for high reliability.
7.The latency of GOOSE datagram must be less than 400μs.

(3) Implementation

The industrial Ethernet switch SICOM3024 and SICOM3048 are dedicated for the advanced substations of power grid systems designed by Kyland and widely employed in 220KV, 500KV and 750KV substations.
