(1) System Structure

The control system of the pneumatic feeding system in cigarette making machines can be divided into three parts. They are the master control station, 15 I/O stations and communication network. There are main controller, operation and maintenance consoles and DB servers in the master control station. The I/O station is implemented by PLC to control air flow. The communication is handled by an industrial Ethernet network.

(2) Requirements of Network

Because the control system is a distributed closed-loop system, the communication network should be an industrial Ethernet ring network to improve reliability. In addition, as it is dusty in the workshop and tobacco is flammable, industrial Ethernet switches should be dustproof and flame retardant.

(3) Implementation

Industrial Ethernet switches such as SICOM3000, SICOM3000BA, SICOM3016, KIEN6000, and KIEN2000 are employed in the control system of cigarette-making machines.
